phone: 07905251707 I chose Blair Drummond Safari Park as a basis for my project this year. Initially I got in touch with the Blair Drummond Staff and spent time at the park interviewing staff and photographing the enclosures and animals. I decided to turn their guide book into an illustrated 'keep-sake' book which would appeal to both adults and children. Within my illustrations I aimed to re-create accurate representations of the animals for educational and reference purposes. Alongside the guide book I explored additional merchandising features for the park including posters, maps and children's craft toys. I experimented with different materials to show my illustration technique could be adaptable for wider use around the park; as permanent features or sculptures. The brief was to design a new look for the classic children’s book title. In my design I wanted to show the importance of the characters but not in the traditional illustration style, I wanted to use typography. The peach is the main symbolic element of the book so I felt it still needed to be represented in the cover, I created the shape of the peach using the names of the characters.
